Hose Techniques offers some nice colored
silicone vacuum hoses. They cost about 1 1/2 times more than your
typical rubber hose, but they are well worth it. They really sharpen
up the engine bay and the hose will not harden near as much over
the years, making removal and reinstallation of the hoses much
easier. Take a look. I chose yellow of course.
A starter kit from Hose
Techniques will get most of the job done, though a few scraps
may be necessary to finish all the hoses. You can order the hose
by foot, in the starter kit, or in the Extreme Kit. Hose Techniques
has promised that they will have a Z31 kit ready, but they keep
promising and don't follow through. So, for now, don't waste your
money, get what you need, a starter kit.
I've also installed the stuff for the
washer fluid hoses. There was plenty left over to make it. Here's
the starter kit...the cool thing is it comes with a nice cutting
tool, some Ricey stickers (please hide if you're going to use
them...don't put them in an obvious spot), and some good candy
that say "Hose Techniques" on them.
I warn you of one thing, these hoses
are soft, and certain uses may ruin your vacuum and cause yucky
noise (vacuum leaks). I had ONLY ONE problem...this came from
one of the hoses that runs by the Radiator Cap, over the front
side of the engine, and then to the back of the Intake Collector.
It is a thicker sized hose. When I gave the gas, this one would
expand and allow for leakage. I since replaced the hose with a
normal, black vacuum hose.
