Collector Cover
Very simple. Remove the 6 bolts. Get
the thing sandblasted. If you only do this you'll have something
that looks like this:
I liked this look, but as I finished
other parts of my engine bay (in yellow), the sandblasted only
cover really lost its attention and the engine didn't look very
good. So I went to the next step. Paint the Collector Cover whatever
color you want, preferrable with high heat paint. let it cure
as necessary. Then use a plane sander or something, and sand the
flat surface of the Collector Cover until its as shiny as Chrome
(which I still need to do...I just used a rotary sander and it
didn't turn out how I wanted). Now you have a perfect collector
cover. You can give it a coat of high heat clear enamel now to
protect it forever or just use some aluminum polish on it every
once in a while and it'll stay nice and shiny.
Remember there are many other Aluminum
parts on your Z, like the wheels...don't
forget to give them some attention, too.
